Kia has shifted more than a million examples of the outgoing Picanto over its seven-year lifespan and believes this new, more mature incarnation has the potential to build on that success. Because while Kia has been making strides in other segments with vehicles like the Cee’d and Sportage, the baby of its range, the Picanto, remains a crucial model for the firm.
However, the Picanto is particularly disappointing to drive, outclassed by the likes of the VW Up and its Citigo and Mii sister models. These rivals also beat the Picanto when it comes to interior space and running costs, because they emit less CO2, use slightly less fuel and will hold on to their value better in the long run.
